The PLACE Education & Research Centre has been an independent charity since 2004. The main PLACE office is based at York St John University in York.

Organisation
PLACE is governed by a Board of Directors. The Chief Executive is Dr Margaret Atherden, who currently also serves as Company Secretary.

Members
Members are known as Friends of PLACE. Membership is open to all and costs £5.00 per year. Members receive regular newsletters and have advance notice of events such as conferences.
